How we offer an apprenticeship

Bishop Floors is a family run flooring business that has over 30 years experience and specialises in the commercial sector . We are currently looking to employ a 1st Year Apprentice who has an genuine interest in floor installation and has a willingness to learn and is enthusiastic to work.

This role would entail undertaking your Certificate III of Flooring Technology over 4 years and during this time you will have the opportunity to learn and perform the following tasks:

  1. Floor preparation and finishing

  2. Installation of commercial vinyl and carpet tiles

  3. Safe handling of and use of required machinery and tools

 

A successful applicant must have the following:

  1. Completed Year 11

  2. Current and up to date COVID Vaccination Certificate

  3. Basic knowledge of hand tools

  4. Enthusiastic with a genuine interest in flooring installation and committed to on and off job training and completing apprenticeship

  5. Positive attitude, reliable and works well with others

  6. Effective communication skills and is able to respond well to clients.

  7. Be willing to work overtime (paid) and/or weekends and travel when required.

  8. Physically fit and capable

  9. Non smoker

  10. Willing to undergo Victorian Police check prior to commencement of apprenticeship.

 

To help your application, it would be preferred you have the following, however these are not essential:

  1. A white card

  2. Working with Children's Check

  3. Driver licence

  4. Own car

  5. Own tools

 

Bishop Floors office is based in Park Orchards, Victoria and services all of  Metropolitan Melbourne and some regional Victoria , as such it is important that the successful applicant has the flexibility and willingness to travel when and where required.

For the successful applicant Bishop Floors is committed to providing a safe and friendly working environment, ongoing mentoring and support along with on the job training from a qualified floor installer for the duration of the apprenticeship. We will also provide full uniform and required PPE and essential hand tools.
